Welcome

So many people dream about being published, but so few actually achieve it. We aim to change that.

Quick Brown Fox Publications is something new and exciting in publishing. We're not quite a publisher, and not quite a literary agency, but somehow, we're so much more, and we're growing. We're based in York, England, and we deal exclusively with first-time authors who have yet to receive the recognition they deserve. We deal with first-time authors and we accept fiction, non-fiction and childrens, and anything in between. We only deal with people who are passionate and committed about their work, simply because if you're not passionate and committed, you will fail.

2008 was a great year for Quick Brown Fox: we sold The Amateur Historian and its follow-up, Felicity's Gate, into America and published our customary three books, Wake Up Dead Man, Septimus Smythe and the Spectre Detectors and How Not To Manage. The latter marked the first time QBF published a book by an existing author – or rather, authors – but we hope you can forgive this break with tradition as it's such a funny book!

2009 is going to be cracking: we have our biggest book to date, Jeremy Piercy's Coffins, Cats and Fair Trade Sex Toys, coming out in February to coincide with Fair Trade fortnight, and we're offering you the chance to win a holiday to India in conjunction with Shared Earth, Borders Books and Ethical Living Magazine. We'll also be creating The Ghosts Of Cockleshore Bay series with a double-header from Diana Shaw (Horace and the Stowaway and Edward and the Book Crooks) in April and the summer will see a limited edition of Adam Kirkman's second novel, Better To Have Loved And Lost. All of which leads into our biggest ever Christmas with too many exciting projects to spoil now!

What this means is that we're a victim of our own success and our books are usually full. This is great for us but not such good news for first-time authors seeking to submit to us! We are genuinely still accepting submissions every day but unfortunately we have a lot of projects lined up and therefore very little time to take on new ones. You'll have to be very patient, even by publishing house standards! Although perhaps you should stay tuned for news that might interest you...
